OUR MISSION

IS TO BE A LOVING COMMUNITY PURSUING GRACE, TRUTH AND HOPE IN JESUS

Announcements

Are you looking for a new community within South Central Pennsylvania?

Our Mission incorporates who we believe God is calling us to become and what God is calling us to accomplish together. We are messy people saved by grace through faith in Jesus. We are going to Love God, Love God's people, and Love God's world, and we are going to do that together. We are called to share together the message of hope found uniquely in Jesus. We are called together to love each other and others in the ways of Jesus, which means both in grace and in truth, both in action and in word. Following Jesus Together is what we understand our life to be fundamentally about. This means worship, community, discipleship, evangelism,

and service.

Our History

The Bright Hope Family began with a church plant team that began holding weekly worship gatherings in Londonderry Elementary School in the mid-1990's. For more than 20 years, the values of worshiping Jesus together, serving others in the name of Jesus, and family have been core to the identity of the church.

Bright Hope is part of a larger church family known as the Brethren in Christ (BIC), a warm-hearted, service-oriented, Bible-believing family of Jesus followers that began at Conoy Creek in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in the 1770s. The BIC finds its roots in Jesus Christ, the Bible, and the Church Universal. More particularly, the BIC Family traces its heritage to the Radical Reformation nearly 500 years ago. Other influences include the Arminian, Wesleyan, Pietist, and Evangelical faith traditions. Since its inception, the BIC Church has become a worldwide family of Jesus followers, with each nation having its own culturally-sensitive and locally-based leadership. Bright Hope falls within the Brethren in Christ in the U.S. (the BIC U.S.) family.

David and Carol Crick
David, Carol, Haniah (8) and Kailea (2) are International Workers with Greater Europe Mission and will be serving at the missions school, Black Forest Academy. David grew up in Middletown and attended Bright Hope as a young man. He graduated from Lower Dauphin and currently works at Mount Calvary Christian School. Carol grew up on the mission field in the Philippines. She graduated from Faith Academy and attended Messiah University. She currently is a stay-at-home mom. Black Forest Academy is a missionary kids school that has 90% of their students coming from missionary Families. Black Forest Academy is part of the backbone of many international worker families and agencies, whose focus is to fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28:16), making Disciples of all Nations around the world. David's role will be serving in the maintenance department where there is a critical need for workers to help maintain all of the 12-plus properties. This helps keep the cost of the school down making it affordable for international worker families.

February 2024 Update: Right now, the Crick's are working to raise their full support and their hope is to be on the ground for the 2024-2025 school year. Their monthly financial support/pledges is at about 44% and they need to be fully funded before they are able to go. So, Ministry Partner Development is a big part of what they are doing while stateside along with various trainings and preparations for being on the field as required by Greater Europe Mission.

Doug and Barb Miller

The Millers are indebted to the trailblazing efforts of the BIC missionaries who have gone before them in Malawi. Despite many challenges, the Lord has opened doors and hearts, leading to evangelistic and discipleship groups in approximately 20 villages. Through prayer evangelism, chronological teaching, and grassroots compassion, the Millers seek to encourage an emerging “movement of multiplication.”

December 2023 Update: Doug and Barb Miller recently completed 23 years of church planting mission work under BIC US World Missions among the least reached in Malawi. They are so thankful for our faithful prayer and financial support that has contributed to much fruit, approximately thirty seekers' and believers' village fellowship groups fourteen apprentice leaders. They request that we continue to pray for their teammates the Bathurst and Kaputa families, for the spiritual growth of believers and for the Lord to send more workers

into this vast harvest field.
